Oh, and two people wrote in to say that Switzerland does have a naval ensign, stipulated in the Maritime Traffic Law 1953. Now, I have only a really basic knowledge of German (blame the luscious Miss P. who was our teacher), but I suspect that this sort of ensign and what I was talking about were two different things. So that strip is perfectly valid. Nyer.
