The author writes:

It's duck, not chicken.

That test of nerves where two people drive cars headlong at one another, trying to make the other flinch and veer away. If you duck your head, you won't see the other car careening towards you, so you can hold your nerve better, and win.

That's why it's called "Duck". I don't know why so many people seem to get this wrong.
