The author writes:

I've been doing some substitute teaching at a local school recently. I sort of fell into the position when my flatmate couldn't make it in one day due to having a bad cold, so I just went in to tell them that he couldn't make it on my way to the grocery store, and they assumed I was him and put me in a room with 25 kids. It turned out to be easier than I thought, teaching kids. So I went back the next day, and then the regular teacher I was subbing for took a bad turn and will be off work for several weeks, and by now I couldn't let my flatmate go in and start teaching because they'd wonder what was going on.

Anyway, long story short, things were going swimmingly for about three weeks. Until the school discovered that I'd been teaching the class nothing but how to draw comics.

Turns out the parents weren't real happy. But I did get a month's worth of cool guest comics drawn by the kids, which I can use on days when I haven't got anything of my own ready in time for publication. So that's why today's comic looks like... well... slightly more professional.
