Apparently some readers have got it into their heads that because I've recently suffered through the tragic end of a long-term relationship, that they should inundate me with offers to meet over dinner, or chat online, or initiate some sort of friendship.

While this is very flattering and I appreciate the sentiments, I really don't think that any of you will ever be able to replace that 12-year-old pair of running shoes that I finally tossed away last month.
