The author writes:
The last few months of U.S. Acres weren't colored, and I was curious to see what it would look like if they were. Clip Studio Paint has an automatic colorizer feature, and when I ran it on the comic while keeping the line art, I ended up getting this. I tried adjusting it more, but it always stuck to this one palette.
It had no idea what U.S. Acres actually looked like, and trying to use a daily comic for color reference didn't help it much. So I decided to manually color in panels of the comic, staying intentionally messy because I wanted to give it an idea without doing all the work for it. That came out like this:
When I ran the colorizer again, I got these really muddy, watercolor-style colors for each panel:
Automated colorizing has a long way to go, so I think Jim's colorist's job is safe for the foreseeable future. But it'd be cool to see the red/blue palette applied to a real comic.
