{Garfield suddenly wakes up}
Garfield: You know it's Monday when you wake up and it's Sunday.
The author writes:
In October of 2010, newspaper comic Brevity told one joke over the course of an entire week, wherein a couple met, grew up together, reproduced, and eventually died all near a pair of park benches, all leading up to this anticlimax of a punchline. It made me think about this strip, and wonder how many people got angry or confused (even before one could immediately register one's rage through Internet or e-mail) about the apparently jokeless strip, and what would have happened had Jim Davis stretched the set-up as long as Brevity did.
[[Original strips: 1981-11-26, 1981-11-27, with minor assists from the rest of the week.]]
