The author writes:

Garfield Minus Garfield is a strip about what a bizarre life Jon leads.

By the additive property: Garfield - Garfield = Jon Garfield = Garfield + Jon

So what would a Garfield strip look like if we added 100% more Jon to it? I'm not quite sure what the result is, but it does strike me how rarely we see anything other than the disembodied upper half of Jon.
