The author writes:

I saw #1227 and thought it made the original strip funnier, but I decided to take it up a notch or two.

First, I removed the borders to make it one long strip, as it makes no sense for it to just be the standard format. Then I tweaked both Jon's dialogue to simplify it and closed his eyes so the punchline of Garfield being taped up much to Jon's (and Odie's) obliviousness works more.

Does this make things work more? I think it does.
