Strip by: Craig Wittler

Jon: The world is constantly changing.
{Garfield is replaced by Linus the Lionhearted}
Garfield: They haven't stopped making Crispy Critters, have they?

The author writes:

The quote "I think this might be starting to cross into meme territory. Next time, Nobel laureate Linus Pauling! (Or not.)" inspired me. But then, I am easily inspired.

Instead of Linus Pauling for this one (I had to go the "Or not" route), I used semi-forgotten '60s cartoon character and cereal mascot Linus the Lionhearted. And the change in Garfield's comment in the third box refers to the cereal Linus was on the box and in commercials for, Post Crispy Critters, which, yes, they have stopped making.

Trivia: The Linus the Lionhearted cartoons had an all-star cast of voices, including Carl Reiner, Ruth Buzzi, Jonathan Winters, and, as the voice of Linus, Sheldon Leonard, who the lead characters of "The Big Bang Theory" (Sheldon and Leonard) were named after, not because of his cartoon voices or movie roles (typecast as a gangster/tough guy), but because of his work as a producer of TV shows, including Andy Griffith's and Dick Van Dyke's iconic sitcoms as well as "I Spy".

Original strip: 2001-11-28.
