Garfield: {checks his popcorn box, finds that it is empty, prepares to leave}
Jon: Where are you going? The movie isn't over yet.
Garfield: Roger Ebert's here. I'll just read his review.

The author writes:

Every character that Jim Davis pens into the comic is usually penned with a purpose, like when Lyman's face mysteriously appears on the newspaper in the original strip referenced in #1534, a little over three decades after his disappearance. As it so happened, this particular comic had an interesting looking fellow in the back taking notes while watching the movie, leading me to wonder who this person was intended to reference. My first guess was Roger Ebert, being that he is considered the most readily recognizable movie reviewer (as Robert Christgau is to music) so I did a quick image search. Lo and behold, I found a match.
