Strip by: Manyhills

{Garfield's outline in each panel contains the word 'Garfield'}
Outline of Garfield: Sometimes I sleep so much I can't tell if it's day or night
Outline of Garfield: Sometimes I eat so much I can't tell if I'm hungry or full
Outline of Garfield: Ignorance is bliss

The author writes:

"Parfois le nom d'un objet tient lien d'une image." - René Magritte, Les Mots et les images

Deborah Schultz translates the above as "Sometimes the name of an object takes the place of an image" in Marcel Broodthaers: Strategy and Dialogue.

I note that after visiting the Musée des Beaux-Arts, W. H. Auden was inspired to write his classic poem of the same name, whereas I was inspired to create this Square Root of Minus Garfield strip. The parallels between mine and Auden's lives are few, but none of them really casts me in a flattering light.
