The funny thing about this strip? The interval between this strip and the one being followed up on is bigger than the original IWC! strips they're referencing. Even weirder? Both the original Garfield strip and the IWC! strip this comic's referencing were released in the same year!
Other than that, this strip was specifically chosen because of the depiction of a more modern computer, used here to indicate the passage of time between the two strips.
