The author writes:

I saw today's strip (as of creating the comic/writing this commentary) and felt like it was ripe for an infinitely scrolling strip where Garfield can't get away because there are either two Jons on either side of the 2D space he is capable of walking, or because there are infinitely many Jons reading newspapers, all of them surrounding Garfield.

I noticed two things while editing this: First, the Garfield in the 3rd panel of the original comic really is just a flipped version of the Garfield in the first panel. Second, and this helps confirm the first, Garfield's far pupil is... off a bit in panels 1 and 3.

As a bonus, I have also attached a version of the GIF I made with no delay between frames. Completely unreadable, but arguably more illustrative of just how many times Garfield is trying to find Jon.
