Jon: You're a worthless lump of Flubber, Garfield.
Garfield: That wasn't very nice.
Garfield {now laying in a parking lot} Lumps of Flubber have feelings too.

The author writes:

This is based on a bit of a disturbing true story. Back in the early 60s, Hasbro produced a toy to tie in with a then-recent movie. It was called "Flubber". When they mixed the formula for the toy, it turned out to be incredibly toxic. Several kids who played with it came down with horrible fevers and rashes. Upon learning, Hasbro quickly recalled the toy. However, when they tried to bury it at sea it floated right back to the top. And when they tried burning it, it would not flame up. So they buried it in the ground and paved a parking lot over it (hence why Garfield is suddenly in a parking lot in the last frame). Some say that if you look carefully at the cracks in the pavement on hot days that you can see the stuff still rising to the top.

If this story managed to scare you today, then I have done my job.
