Garfield: Yep, I've eaten a lot of vertebrates.
Nermal: Really?
Garfield: Went back in time and ate an archaeopteryx.
Nermal: Wow!
Garfield: Went to the north pole once and ate a penguin.
Nermal: Wait a minute...

So, MadDogBV built upon Lunatic Person's and unstattedCommoner's efforts to make this Garfield strip more accurate, but commented that the resulting strip was now "unfunny". Now, while I believe that has more to do with the original joke not being very funny, rather than any appended accuracies, I decided to attempt to add some funny, with a simple reversal, and adding back an original inaccuracy. I believe the resulting strip is funnier than the original, and gives Nermal a more interesting character - knowledgeable enough to know that there are no penguins at the North Pole, but still filled with childlike innocence and hero worship enough to believe that Garfield could have travelled through time.

Well, it's funnier if you find precocious children mixed with contextual meta-humour funny.
