Strip by: Ian Boreham

{a lich version of Mr Spock and a zombie version of Captain Kirk gaze past the viewer against a starry sky backdrop}
Lich Spock: It's unlife, Jim, but not as we know it.

The author writes:

This is one I drew some years ago, but didn't publish anywhere.

Apparently, "It's life, Jim, but not as we know it" was never actually said in the series (just as Timmy never actually fell down a well), but just because something isn't literally true doesn't mean it isn't True in some deeper sense, right? Maybe it really is life, but just not as we know it? Yeah? Deep, man.

The strip was drawn in Gimp using a borrowed stylus. I found drawing with a stylus better than with a mouse, but the disconnect between where I was drawing on the tablet and where I saw the results on the screen (and the difficulty in turning the "paper" so I could draw on the inside of the curve) still made it hard. Now that there are Cintiqs, stylus tablets with screens in them, and Surface Pro 3s around, I'm kind of keen to start pencilling and inking digitally.
