{Gimli the dwarf's face and an axe head appear through a crack in the door he has just smashed through with the axe.}

caption: Heeeeere's Gimli!

The author writes:

I'm expecting that on the other side of the door is a quivering goblin or two who haven't yet had their necks fixed by dwarven chiropractic.

Or maybe it's actually The Shiny, and that door was unfortunate enough to be between a dwarf and gold that was rightfully his (i.e., near him).

I did a quick search (as I often do) to see if anyone had already done this idea, and didn't find anything. After I had finished the artwork, I did another search, and discovered that some people think The Shining "memes" are some of the earliest and most numerous. Apparently I've led a sheltered life. I'll just have to console myself with the thought that a mix of the earliest "meme" and the greatest of fantasy can only be a good thing.

Drawn in Krita with text added in Inkscape. The font is Odinson, by Daniel Zadorozny (http://www.iconian.com). I went looking for a font that looked runic, but was readable as Roman letters, and found this lovely little thing.
