Strip by: Ian Boreham
{A man with a crossbow slung across his back is bowling a ball at a bowling alley, but the ball goes into the gutter.}
teammate: Oh, Wiiiilliaaaam! Whose team are you even on?!
{The teammate gets struck in the chest by a crossbow bolt.}
teammate: URK!
{William Tell, for indeed it is he, shoves an apple into the dead man's mouth.}
William Tell: Ask not for whom the Tell bowls. We're Donne here.
The author writes:
Apparently Tell was very good at shooting stationary targets, but not very good at shooting enemies. He would always give away when he was going to shoot by small, involuntary movements.
I am aware that the original quote from Donne's Meditation is "never send to know for whom the bell tolls", but the more compact modern version is both more relevant to this comic strip and pithier.
Drawn in Krita and Inkscape.
