caption: Fun fact: Most new coffee shops go out of business because of their names. All the good coffee-themed puns have already been taken.

{An envelope marked "ACCOUNT OVERDUE" is addressed to "The Proprietors, Whooping Coffee".}

{A sign for the coffee shop "Brew-tal" shows a customer being punched in the face with a cup of strong coffee. The sign has a sticker over it, containing the text "CLOSED. Enquiries: Ian Solvent".}

{"Café Late" has closed down. The sign in the window says "To let: Anne Scrupulus Real Estate".}

{Next to a dumpster there is a discarded hinged footpath/sidewalk sign for the Common Ground café, illustrated with three people all drinking from the same cup of coffee.}

{On the slopes of a volcano, business is slow at the coffee kiosk named "Trouble Brewing".}

{There is a Department of Health "notice of closure" sign on the door of the Grounds for Complaint coffee shop.}

The author writes:

A similar crisis will soon afflict the Thai restaurant industry.

I have been attempting to acquire a taste for coffee over the last couple of years. Up until then, my failing coffee shop would have been named "Vile Brew". A colleague wants me to acquire a taste for fancy flavoured coffee pods, but I have just been drinking instant coffee. My philosophy is that if I am acquiring a taste for something I don't like, I might as well acquire a taste for the version I can drink for free at the office, rather than for something I have to pay for.
