Strip by: Ian Boreham

{Lord Elrond Half-elven is trying to look positive, as he displays the sword Anduril, forged from the shards of Narsil, the Sword That Was Broken. Anduril is extremely short.}
caption: After centuries of “souveniring” by elvish tourists, there weren't many shards of Narsil left to use.

The author writes:

...in Imladris it dwells. And bits in Mirkwood and Lothlorien; Cirdan has one at the havens, and several pieces have made their way westward over the sea.

Anduril, Flame of the West, as in, "west of Rivendell", like, you know, The Shire. Where the funny little people live. Get it? Like your funny little undersized sword. Yeah, well you'd better suck it up if you want to marry my daughter, human-boy!

This strip relies on the Peter Jackson LotR movies, in which Narsil was shattered into many pieces, and left on display in a sort of low-security museum area in Rivendell, rather than just snapped in two and carried around by Aragorn, as in the books by that guy. I will deal with Mr Tolkien's interpretation in a later strip.
