Strip by: Ian Boreham
{A mathematician sits in front of a computer in an office. The sign on the wall reads "Department of Mathematics - Topology".
Mathematician: This year I need to try to be more positive. In fact, I resolve to be positive definite! I'm going to turn over a new leaf!
{Zoom in on the face of the mathematician, looking surprised.}
Mathematician: But what if the leaf has a Möbius surface?
Mathematician: ...
Mathematician: I guess I've always been a Klein-bottle-half-empty kind of guy...
The author writes:
In German it's actually Kleinsche Flasche, apparently. A Klein-ish bottle, to distinguish it from a "kleine Flasche", which would be a small bottle.
The mathematician looks like he's eaten too many chocolate tori, so he's become homely-o-morphic*.
* Only makes sense in some versions of English...
This is the first strip drawn in 2017, so Happy New Year, everyone!
