Strip by: Josep Nollette

News report: Geologists continue to puzzle over a lack of cooling of the earth's core. Data puts the temperature somewhere between 5000 and 7000 degrees Celsius. "This runs counter to conventional thought," says one scientist. "We expected to find signs of freezing."
{Jason comes in}
News report: "I mean, I have an Edith Kanakaʻole quarter with '25¢' instead of 'quarter dollar' right here in front of me..."
Jason: Yeah, what gives?!

The author writes:

The coins of the US dollar are notorious for having their face values written entirely in English instead of Arabic numerals like in most other countries, including ones just as monolingual as the US. With that in mind, I was surprised to come across a commemorative 25-cent piece that displays its face value as "25¢" instead of "quarter dollar".
