{Ed, Oscar and Gordo are watching TV}
Johnny Gilbert: {from TV} This is the Jeopardy! Tournament of Losers!
Ed: Remember when Jeopardy! didn't overuse tournaments?
Gordo: Yeah.
Ed: Now we get to see players who we've pretty much forgotten, plus the same players over and over and over and over again.
Oscar: Yes.
Ed: In retrospect, I think Michael Davies was the wrong choice to run the show long-term.
Gordo: Right!
{Oscar changes the channel}
{SFX: click.}
Gordo: At least Bellamie Blackstone is more competent with Wheel.

The author writes:

Some wise words from James Holzhauer, even if I have to link to the Cybertruck guy's social media platform. And some more wise words from former contestant Cory Anotado (who played under Davies, no less).

If you told me back in 2021 or even 2022 that the guy running the smartest game show on TV would turn out to be a complete nimrod who this article would compare to George Steinbrenner (I like to compare him to Jerry Jones myself, but Steinbrenner works too), I'd have laughed in your face. Then again, how he handled Nikki Glaser changing her "final" answer on Kimmel Millionaire (thus defeating the point of a final answer) probably should've been a red flag for me, in hindsight.

While I still find Davies better than the previous guy (in the sense that he's not nearly as toxic), that's not saying much. Alex Trebek and Merv Griffin (God rest their souls) are rolling in their graves...

Trivia: Because I'm still stuck on my phone (since my laptop's internal battery is degraded and my parents still haven't gotten me a new one), I had to use Pixlr's desktop view and Font Meme to edit (putting individual lines of text on the panels). I mistakenly rendered the line "plus the same players over and over again." as "plus the same players over and over over and over again," so I decided to add an extra "and"; I think it works.
