Presumably, this was followed up by reality breaking down as per the original cartoon, but unfortunately modern Garfield operates on a 'tell, don't show' basis.

For the recommended effect, I'd follow this strip up with 'One Warped Wish' or a similar strip.

Garfield would probably end up shotgunning Jon's computer anyway, virus or no.
