1D. Labyrinth

The main working step of this puzzle is to rearrange the pieces into a maze that satisfies the conditions shown below the pieces. Namely:

1. The red figure should be able to reach one of the black figures.
2. Each blue figure should be able to reach one of the black figures.
3. The two remaining black figures should be able to reach one another.

This is mostly a trial and error process, eliminating particular arrangements of pieces as you discover that they cannot satisfy the given conditions. After some work, all incorrect arrangements can logically be eliminated, giving the following arrangement:

By joining the figures, the paths make rough letter shapes that spell out the word LOST - very appropriate for people stuck in a labyrinth, and the solution to the puzzle.
