D.1 Beginnings

• The question marks represent missing letters.
• You must add beginnings to each of the eight words. But there are many ways to start each word. The layout of the puzzle suggests a way to minimise the possibilities.
• You must add a letter to the beginning of each two-letter pair, to form words. Then add further beginning letters to make four-letter words, and yet more beginnings to make five-letter words.
