Poor Christine Chapel. She suffers so many indignities and is so consumed by her unrequited desire for Mr Spock that eventually she snaps and commits multiple violations of Starfleet regulations, crew discipline, and just plain common sense.
Some time after this episode she is committed to an asylum for insane Starfleet officers, where she spends the rest of her days sitting in a corner, contemplating a tri-D chess set and muttering barely audible epithets over a bowl of plomeek soup.
