Good old Kirk, interfering in local planetary government again with his own brand of "diplomacy". Although granted in this case for a good cause.

In this episode Spock apparently just forgets that Vulcans don't discuss their mating rituals with non-Vulcans. Remember how in "Amok Time" he was so embarrassed by it that he couldn't even tell Kirk to save his own life? But wave one scantily-clad racist oppressor in his face, and suddenly he's all tongue-wagging.

This is the first episode where I've coloured a human's hair. It's a side effect of the fact that this is (I think) only the second episode in which I've drawn one character in multiple costumes (after "The Conscience of the King"). And in this case one of the costumes is white, so Vanna had no colour at all in the last three panels until I decided to show her red hair as a way of providing continuity between the costume changes.
