There are a lot of dialogue options here. Most of them work with this page as the first page of the comic, but some imply a different page ordering. Don't let that bother you - just pick the dialogue you like best. The page ordering will be shuffled to make it work.

In all of these dialogues, the lines are numbered according to what panel they appear in. If a number is skipped, that means that panel is silent.

1 Daisy (off panel): Wow, this is really happening... 2 Daisy: Looks like we're almost ready for take-off. 2 Jake (off panel): Don't forget to re-test the engine, fix the control panel wiring, inspect the energy drive, and install Schroedinger's litterbox! 3 Daisy: It'll take me hours to do all that alone! What are you going to do in the meantime, "Captain"? 3 Jake: Relax, Dazer, I'm just about to do some last-minute ordering for equipment we might need. 4 Jake: Nice, the new Model X150 Duct Tape is on sale... 3 Daisy: Starr, I wanted the symbol for infinity, and... 3 Daisy: Starr. 3 Daisy: Look sharp. 4 Daisy: Starr! 4 Jake: Hwuh? 4 Daisy: That's not my ship. 1 Narration: The *Infinity*. A state-of-the-art ship custom designed and built for one purpose: 2 Narration: to win the Great Zzybak Race. 2 Daisy: <Sigh> Jake... 3 Daisy: Jake, I thought you were going to get those engines finished this morning? 3 Jake: I'm just taking a quick break from researching adhesion principles. It will be done soon. 4 Jake: "Use the sticky side to hold the pieces together..." Well I didn't need a book to tell me that part. 2 Dazer: Phew. 3 Dazer: And I'd like to thank you for your contribution. Jackass. 4 Jake: <Sigh> Nobody appreciates that a captain needs his rest. Still, now I'm ready to race! 2 Daisy: Umm... I'm not sure whether this can actually fly. 3 Daisy: Jake, do you know that the registration is closing in two hours? 4 Jake: Yes, I know. And this leaves me precisely 1 hour and 50 minutes of pleasant reading. 2 Dazer: Jake, we've only got two hours before the race begins, and all you've done is draw this ridiculous picture? 3 Dazer: We need to repair the ship's fuel lines, prime the reactor, recalibrate the plasma gauges... 3 Jake: Dazer! Relax! 4 Jake: Like you said, we've got a whole two hours! 1 Dazer: Could we not find a better crew than Jimmers? 2 Dazer: Just look at the state of my engine, Jake! 3 Dazer: I swear if he ... 3 Jake: Calm down, my patches will work well enough. 4 Jake: You know we'll need Jimmers. 4 Jake: Time be off. 1 [caption box for Dazer] There's nothing more we can do to get it ready. 2 Dazer: There's a frightening thought if I've ever had one. 3 Dazer: ...Our only advantage is that no one will bother with sabotage. 3 [Jake thought balloon] Aaaand, rant finished. 4 Jake: I don't suppose you'd buy that it's part of my secret plan? 2 Daisy (thought): What the... 3 Daisy: Jake! Why are you sleeping when there are wires hanging out of the Infinity?! 4 Jake: It'll be fine. This new tech manual puts me to sleep though. 1 Close up on Note, which reads: "Dazer, Jimmers and I were working on the drive, but I think it needs your touch to get it working." 2 Daisy: ... (the exclamation of speechlessness) 3 Daisy: What did you two do to the drive? 3 Jake: We were adjusting some things while you were out talking with that reporter. I figured you could handle the final adjustments. 4 Jake: Besides, I got a new issue of Tape! magazine. They've got some fascinating ideas about duct tape and fuel line efficiency! 2 Dazer: Schroedinger, where's Jake? 2 Schroedinger: ...lounge... 3 Dazer: Jake, we have an interview with USPN in 10 minutes. 3 Jake: Uh, yeah. You don't mind handling that, do you? 4 Jake: I've just got to the really exciting part. 4 Dazer (offscreen): You want excitement? I'll show you excitement! 1 Daisy: Jake! Jake?! Where are you? 2 Daisy: Oh, boy. We've got a loooooong day if this... 3 Daisy: You do realise we've only got a day and a half before the race, right? 4 Jake: Of course I do. I work better under pressure. And under 24 hours, too. Trust me, we'll be fine. Relax a little bit; she'll be spaceworthy in time for the race. 1 Textbox with arrow Pointing to ship, reading: The Infinity: Fastest Ship in the Galaxy... Or so it's creators DAISY HOSHINO and JAKE STARR hope, as they finish their final preparations for entering the Great Zzybak Race, the most gruelling, cut-throat competition in the known universe. 2 Daisy: What the... 2 Jake: [From off panel] Beautiful, ain't she? 2 [Textbox with arrow pointing to Daisy, saying]: Daisy; Engineer, Pilot. 2 [Textbox with arrow pointint to Schroedinger saying]: Schroedinger; Spidercat. 3 Daisy: Are you joking? It's a hunk of junk until you finish off that engine wiring you were meant to do two hours ago. We won't get off the ground at this rate. 3 Jake: Eh, relax. I'll do it when Jimmers gets back. 3 [Textbox with arrow pointing to Jake Star saying]: Jake; ALSO Engineer, and Captain, when he wants to be. 4 Jake: You really need to take a step back and chill, "Dazer". We've got tons of time before the race begins. 4 Jake: And before that, we've pre-race interviews. You wanna take that one, while the blob of gob and I handle your precious engine wiring? 1 Caption: Later, Infinity main engine. 1 Daisy, off-panel: Oh, great! 2 Daisy: Why aren't the cables secured properly, again? We don't have much time to fix that! 3 Daisy: Jake, problem with engine! Quick! 3 Jake: Zzhuh? Oh. 4 Jake: Relax, Dazer, the cables'll hold. I picked up some new securing tech last dock. They call it "duct tape." 1 Caption: Infinity on 30 Credits a Day 2 Daisy: I don't think that we should be able to see circuits and wires hanging out of the side of the ship. 2 Schroedinger: Shoddy. 3 Daisy: Jake! What's the hold up? You were supposed to get the ship ready days before the race and you don't even have the casing on yet! 3 Jake: Relax. We don't have to rush, Dazer, the race is hours away. 4 Daisy: Jake! This is serious! 4 Jake: Fine, I'll get right on it. By the time you're done with your interview Jimmers and I will have Infinity fixed up so tight that the fact that you and the vacuum of space are only separated by a thin layer of duct tape will never occur to you. 1 Caption 1: [Top left corner.] The Infinity. The fastest ship in the Great Zzybak Race this decade...we hope. Sure, she looks a little rough, but we didn't build her to be pretty. 1 Caption 2: [Bottom right corner.] Each component custom-designed, arranged to a specific.... 2 Caption 1: [Top left corner.] ...to a specific.... 2 Daisy: ....... 3 Daisy: You remounted the engines? 3 Jake: Yeah, no big deal. Less space, fewer connectors, less work. And what's this about a manual? 3 Jake: Hmm, wha? 4 Jake: Oh, I drifted off. I couldn't find the Engine Repair guide, but I found this! 4 Dazer: Aggghhh! 1 Narrator Box: Two hours to race time. 1 SFX: sparks from open panels and loose wires. 2 Daisy "Dazer" Hoshino: What the...? Jake, what's going on with the ship? We've got to get to the starting line for the race! 3 Jake Starr: Relax, I'm just waiting for Jimmers to get back with our food supplies. 3 Daisy 'Dazer' Hoshino: ...Okay, 1: That doesn't explain that mess you've made of the ship... 4 Jake Starr: It'll take me 2 seconds to fix that. 4 Daisy 'Dazer' Hoshino (off screen): And 2: What Jimmers considers edible is nothing I ever want to see come out of a food dispenser. 4 Jake Starr: ...All right, it might take a little more time to fix that.

2 Daisy: Phew! I can't believe we actually got that fixed in time for the race. 3 Daisy: Did you fix that leak in the air-lock properly? 3 Jake: Yeah, yeah, of course I did. 4 Daisy (off panel): And keep Jimmer away from any buttons! 2 Daisy: "..." ( in subtle, small font ) 3 Daisy: Jake, you don't seriously expect us to not die a horrible death with an engine held together by tape, do you? 3 Jake: Aww, come on. 4 Jake: Where's your imagination? It's duct-tape! Handyman's secret weapon! You should really read more comics. 1 Daisy: Alright, I'm here. Is the ship ready? 1 Jake: Yep. It's right over there. 2 Daisy: ... 3 Daisy (near shouting): Are you crazy!? That thing is barely spaceworthy! Do you have a death wish or— 3 Jake (interrupting): Relax. 4 Jake: I've got just the thing to fix her up. 1 Caption: In a race such as this, maintenance 2 Caption: is crucial. 3 Daisy: Jake, what is... that? 4 Jake: It's only a few cosmetic defects... 1 Magnification of the note: Do NOT touch until fully charged. 2 Daisy: Jake? [starting with big-bold-sure-letters and ending with thin-trembling ones] 3 Daisy: What's going on with the second engine? Why is it plugged in? 3 Jake: We forgot to charge it before arriving. That's why it took us so long. 3 Daisy: And you plan to recharge it by connecting it to the mains electricity? 3 Jake: That's not 220 volts. It's plugged into the the 1024 megavolt net. 4 Jake: The only thing that could possibly go wrong is the electrical isolation, and I'm researching some possible fixes. 1 Dazer's voice: What's that doing here? 2 Dazer: That's the Artificial Gravity Generator! 2 Jake's voice: Relax! It's the backup A.G.G. 3 Dazer: Why did you take it out of the ship? 3 Jake: I'm selling it to buy fuel. We'll never make it to the first checkpoint otherwise. 4 Jake: We only need it if the primary fails, and that's never happened! 4 Jake (thinks): Not recently, anyway. 1 Daisy: Isn't it amazing, Schroedinger... What a piece of junk this ship is? 2 Daisy: Schrodie, I think we're screwed. 2 Schroedinger: mroww. 2 Daisy: Jake! 3 Daisy: Jake, why in the void is the starboard engine module out on the hangar deck!? 3 Jake: I had Jimmers replacing the flow regulators, they were acting up. Can't really fix that after we launch. 4 Daisy: From the look of it, I'd guess it ate them instead! 4 Jake: Er... yeah. Lemme look into that. 4 Daisy: Yeah, do that, won't you...? 1 Daisy[Off panel]: Wow. 2 Daisy: It's a wreck. Schroedinger could build a better ship! 2 Jake[Off Panel]: No, and no. 3 Daisy: Sir! With all due respect, that silver-wrapped tin can will never fly! 3 Jake: Duct Tape. That's what makes it fly and make us win. 4 Daisy[Off Panel] Fine! I'll do it! 4 Jake: Aw, a captain's life for me. I wonder if Jimmers has eaten anything yet... 4 [Sound Effect: Bzzzzttt!] 4 Jake: There we are. All is well. 1 caption: [The Infinity is finally ready for the Great Zzybak Race] 2 caption: [Well, nearly...] 2 Daisy: {thinks} Loose wires aren't what I call ready. 3 Daisy: Hey, wake up! We're not flying with loose wires! When were you going to fix those? 3 Jake: I'm not asleep, I'm strategising. And those wires are good enough, nobody will be out there. 4 Jake: {thinks} Besides, this article about new ways to use duct tape can't wait. 1 Daisy from off panel: Okay, today's the big day, everything ready, all good to... 3 Daisy: Um... Jake? You're not going to tell me she's ready are you? 4 Jake: Okay, I won't tell you that. Should I tell you about this new tape? 1 'Bzzt!' and 'Crackle!' noises emerging from various orifices of the craft. 1 Announcer-voice from off-screen (zig-zag pointer on speech balloon?): Attention all racers. Attention all racers. The Great Zzybak Race will begin in forty-five minutes. Please make all final preparations and move into position at the starting gate. 2 Dazer: I don't like the look of that To Do List... or those dangling wires. Where is that Jake off to now? 2 Schroedinger: Jake... Sit. 2 Dazer: What? Where? 3 Dazer: We've got work to do. The race is going to start soon. Didn't you hear the announcer? 3 Jake: Don'tcha worry, Dazer. I got it all under control. Just make sure Jimmers gets the rest of the stuff on that list I left. 4 Jake: Let's see... Where was I? 'Duct Tape and Advanced Electronics - Keep an assortment of different coloured duct tape rolls on hand for colour-coding your work...'. 1 Caption: Three months before The Great Zzybak Race, the most famous space race in the known universe. An engineer named Jake Starr is building a space ship. 2 Caption: Sometimes his friend Daisy Hoshino stops by to help. 2 Daisy: Oh my... 3 Daisy: Jake, wake up! There's a reminder on the ship to register for the Zzybak Race. That's crazy! The race is suicidal, you'll never get the ship ready on time, and you don't have money to hire a crew! 4 Jake: Oh. Morning, Dazer. Sure I'm registering, and you too. I don't have money, and won't get the ship ready without your help, so we're in this together. It's crazy, but I know we're both crazy enough. 4 Caption: An adventure has begun. 1 Caption: Moments later... 2 Dazer: Jake, didn't you guys just make this explode? Is this the Infinity at all? 3 Jake: Yeah, it's fine. Practically rebuilds itself every time you look. 3 Dazer: It just exploded. 3 Jake: We've got lots of time. 3 Dazer: Seventeen minutes. Already taken. 2 Daisy: Someone actually named theirs Kalmar? 2 Jake: Probably Damien. 3 Daisy: You told Damien? 3 Jake: Hey, I might've been drunk at the time. 4 Jake: Besides, could be worse. 4 Daisy: I dunno, I kinda liked Legacy. 1 Daisy: Ho-leeee... 2 Daisy: Moses. 3 Daisy: Jake, there are four hours until the race starts. Why does the Infinity look like a bowl of spaghetti got in a fight with a breadmaker? 3 Jake: Chill out, Daze. 4 Jake: I've got it all under control. I'm reading about how leaving some trailing wires here and there makes a ship more aero--er, more spaciodynamic. 4 Daisy: No, you're reading about duct tape. 4 Jake: Right. That too. 2 Daisy: What the... 2 Schroedinger: Weird. 3 Daisy: We're going to do an extremely dangerous space race... in that?! 4 Jake: Relax, I've ordered a truckload of SpaceTape. We'll be fine. 1 Caption: Two hours later.. 2 Daisy: Well 'dinger, that was valuable time wasted smoothing ruffled feathers, literally in the case of the Kestrallians. Now back to work fixing up this mes... 2 Daisy: ...I don't believe it 3 Daisy: Jake!! By which Moon Star did you sacrifice a whole planet to get Infinity done up so quick? 3 Jake: Relax Dazer! Jimmers is finally pulling its weight around here by recommending some new tech. 4 Jake: Did you know this stuff can be used as a new toy for Dead-eye cat here? And keep our seals airtight? Only 2.85 creds for a 5 pack! 1 Daisy(off screen): No way. ...It's worse than when I left it. 2 Daisy (reading the note): "...Intake pipe 2 was leaky, close the primary valve before opening the engine vents, and be careful how you touch it. Checked the balance stabiliser, looks okay to me. Can you pick up some connectors? Also, watch out for the..." Jaaake! 3 Daisy: Whaddya mean the balance circuit is okay?! And that pipe! What about that reflex monitor? Am I gonna have to fix everything myself?! 4 Jake: Relax. We have weeks. I'll get the reflexor running right. And we'll give the pipe a quick patch, it'll work great in space. Who's gonna just open the engine vent anyway?
