The author writes:

Faithful reader Mxyzptlk got a large tattoo on his chest showing a strip he himself came up with. I was going to put this up on the fan art page, then I realised that we didn't have one yet!

So it stayed in my fan art folder, waiting.

Well, a few weeks back, I suddenly realised that there was a plot hole that I didn't know how to fill in. Then I remembered that the tattoo strip explained it perfectly!

And that's how the non-canon strip about cannons became canon.
