This submission is not intended as a jab at the original by Madb, but is rather a testament to the great idea he struck upon! The classicist in me, however, could not allow the grammar to go un-avenged. To whit, and to head off any future critiques, please note that the rendering of Odie as "Odivus," while not classically correct does reflect a medieval adjectival form derived from "odio-odire," meaning "to hate." I have always assumed that the dog's name does, in fact, stem from the odium engendered by his loathsome personality or overactive salivary glands. Finally, be it noted that I chose the imperfect tense of "sequor" (sequebatur) rather than the more convoluted perfect-tense form both for brevity, and to invoke the continuous gyrations Odie must have performed prior to the eventual capture of the errant appendage.
