Strip by: Billy Hicks

Garfield: You must be my birthday nightmare.
Cake On Legs: That's right.
Garfield: Why the cut and paste?
Cake On Legs: Doctor's orders.
Cake On Legs: Last year Jim pulled a hamstring.

The author writes:

Since the strip became computer generated, there's increasingly been a tendency to cut corners by re-using the same panel of artwork three times and just putting new text over the top. You'd expect it in an amateur webcomic, but for something like Garfield it's a little underwhelming. The original of this was the 35th birthday strip, and probably wins the crown of the most disappointing Garfield birthday comic of all time. It is literally the same panel thrice with only Garfield's eyes moving, so this at least attempts to (humourously) do some fourth-wall breaking to explain it.
